Jordan needs separate tools for city rides and journeys between the major sights. Careem has the broadest documented urban reach, while Uber's official Jordan city list currently names only Amman. Uber does, however, offer licensed taxi requests at Queen Alia airport. Do not assume any ride app will provide dependable transport to Petra, Wadi Rum or remote accommodation. Use JETT where its limited timetable fits, or arrange a hotel or licensed-operator transfer. talabat is the strongest food-delivery choice. Cards and contactless payment work at many formal businesses, but cash in Jordanian dinars remains necessary for smaller shops, street taxis and travel outside the capital. CliQ and Zain Cash are domestic payment tools, not useful arrival installs for most short-stay visitors. Jordan Pass can be good value for an eligible traveler visiting Petra and other included sites, but it is not a visa and it is not automatically the right purchase for every nationality or itinerary. Buy it before arrival if relying on its visa-fee benefit, verify the current stay requirement, save it offline, download maps, and store Jordan's unified emergency number 911.

CliQ is Jordan's instant-transfer system inside participating Jordanian bank and mobile-wallet apps. It is useful for residents moving money between local accounts, but it is not a standalone tourist payment app. Zain Cash is also a domestic wallet. Its onboarding and activation flow is tied to local mobile service, identity checks and, in some cases, an agent or branch visit.
Neither product gives most arriving travelers an advantage over their existing cards and Jordanian cash. Use a no-foreign-transaction-fee Visa or Mastercard where accepted and keep a second physical card separately. Contactless payment is common at many hotels, supermarkets, malls, established restaurants and larger tourism businesses, especially in Amman, but acceptance becomes less predictable at small shops, street taxis, markets, roadside stops and outside major cities. Ask before ordering or entering a taxi.
Withdraw Jordanian dinars from an ATM attached to a recognizable bank in a secure location, inspect the machine, cover the PIN and decline any offer to convert the withdrawal into your home currency. Keep enough cash for a full travel day before leaving Amman. A displayed local QR code does not mean a foreign card or phone wallet can pay it. Never move a ride or delivery payment to an unsolicited link or transfer request.
