Get around with local ride-hailing apps, curated for travelers visiting India.
Rapido is now India's largest ride platform by use, with nearly 36 million monthly transacting users and about 6.5 million daily rides in March 2026. Uber recorded about 3.7 million daily rides and Ola about 1.5 million in March 2026. Rapido covers bike taxis, autos and cars across more than 500 cities as stated in its July 2026 App Store listing. Uber, Ola and Rapido all serve Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Chennai, Kolkata, Pune, Jaipur and many smaller cities. inDrive is a cheaper negotiated-fare backup in major metros. Namma Yatri is strongest for direct-driver auto and taxi booking in Bengaluru and selected partner cities. Rapido bikes and autos are usually cheaper than Uber cars; inDrive can be cheaper still; Uber generally has the most visitor-friendly English support. Registration is the main trap. Uber normally accepts a foreign number and international Visa or Mastercard card, while Rapido, Ola and Namma Yatri may require an Indian mobile OTP and favor UPI, local wallets or cash. No Aadhaar or Indian bank account is required for a passenger, but local payment methods unlock more options. Bike-taxi legality changes by state, so the bike product can disappear while cars remain. At airports, use the signed app pickup zone and expect a parking or airport charge in the quote. BluSmart suspended all ride bookings in April 2025 and must not be listed. Coverage is poor in Goa and some smaller tourist areas despite national branding.
