Choose the official operator for each city and check the current payment rules after every move. Delhi Metro Sarthi provides Delhi Metro routing, station information and QR ticketing. The network also sells tickets through other approved channels, so a counter or physical fare product remains a useful fallback if registration or payment fails. Mumbai One integrates planning and QR ticketing across multiple Mumbai-region metro, monorail, suburban-rail and bus operators, but recent users still report bugs and not every fare product or journey works identically.
Keep the station counter option for a fixed connection. Bengaluru's official Namma Metro app provides metro information and smart-card functions; BMRCL also offers QR tickets through official channels including WhatsApp. Chalo supplies live bus information and, only in participating cities, mobile tickets or passes. Its feature set differs by city, so the presence of a route does not mean app payment is available.
Google Maps can help plan, but bus data, stop positions and service changes are not consistently complete. Check the operator's live alert and signage. Local metros and buses may use QR tickets, tokens, smart cards, bank cards, cash or a mixture. Do not assume a card bought in one city works in another.
Keep small cash, avoid crowding near open train doors, protect valuables in busy stations and allow time for security checks. For an airport or last service, verify the final departure on the official operator channel rather than relying only on a general map.
