Xanh SM led Vietnam's taxi and ride-app revenue with 54.51 percent during the first quarter of 2026, ahead of Grab at 40.92 percent and Be at 4.57 percent. A separate consumer survey measured app usage rather than revenue and found Grab at 44 percent, Xanh SM at 29 percent and Be at 20 percent during 2026. The methodologies conflict, but both show Grab and Xanh SM far ahead. Visitors should install both. Grab has the easiest English interface, foreign-number signup and international Visa or Mastercard handling. Be is usually cheaper than Grab as of mid-2026 and supports cars and motorbikes, but a Vietnamese number and local payment method can be more reliable. Maxim is another current low-cost option in 14 named cities as of July 2026 and is usually cheaper than Grab, though cash and a local SIM are safer. Xanh SM and Be may accept cards shown in the app, while cash remains the safest visitor fallback. Mai Linh and Vinasun dispatch licensed metered taxis and help when surge prices rise. A normal airport trip from Tân Sơn Nhất to central Hồ Chí Minh City commonly costs about ₫120,000 to ₫250,000 before tolls and surge as of mid-2026. Uber does not work; Grab replaced it after the 2018 exit.
