Get around with local ride-hailing apps, curated for travelers visiting Vietnam.
Uber is absent. Grab is the easiest first install for most international visitors because it combines broad city coverage, an English interface, ride types from motorbikes to cars and relatively straightforward foreign-card support.
The easiest visitor default for cars, motorbikes and licensed taxis across Vietnam's main cities and tourism hubs.
The electric ride-hailing service formerly called Xanh SM, with cars, motorbikes and dedicated airport options.
A Vietnamese multi-service app for cars, motorbikes, taxis and other transport in many cities.
The official booking app for a long-established metered taxi network with broad provincial coverage.
The official app for a major licensed taxi fleet concentrated in Ho Chi Minh City and southern Vietnam.
Moca currently adds a 4 percent fee to the final Grab payment when the card was issued abroad, so compare that convenience with paying the exact app fare in cash. Green SM, renamed from Xanh SM in April 2026, is the strongest alternative and uses electric cars and motorbikes. Be is another useful local comparison, especially in major cities, but signup, card handling and driver supply can be less predictable for a short-stay visitor. Mai Linh and Vinasun are reputable traditional taxi brands with official apps; Vinasun is strongest in Ho Chi Minh City and the southeast, while Mai Linh has wider national reach.
At airports and transport hubs, ignore anyone who claims to be a Grab or Green SM manager, offers to match an app price or asks to handle your phone. Complete the booking in the app, follow its marked pickup point, verify the registration plate and driver, and keep the ride on-platform. For a street taxi, use an official rank or the operator's own app and confirm that the meter is running. Photograph or screenshot the destination in Vietnamese, since identical hotel names and old administrative addresses can cause errors.
Motorbike rides are fast but expose passengers to traffic and weather; use the supplied helmet and choose a car when luggage, road conditions or personal safety make that wiser.
