Is Uber Available in Bosnia and Herzegovina?

No. Uber does not operate in Bosnia and Herzegovina. Bolt does not operate there either. The familiar international ride-app fallback is therefore missing in Sarajevo, Banja Luka, Mostar, and the rest of the country.

The most useful local app is mojTaxi, which dispatches established taxi vehicles rather than private Uber-style cars. Its documented app coverage includes Sarajevo and Banja Luka, but acceptance and supply should not be assumed nationwide.

Is Uber available in any Bosnian city?

No. Bosnia and Herzegovina is absent from Uber's current country and city directory. Bolt's current directory also lists no Bosnian market.

That means you should not expect an international Uber account to work in Sarajevo or assume that Mostar has a hidden seasonal service. Local taxi associations, hotel bookings, and a small number of local apps fill the gap.

mojTaxi lets a user request a nearby taxi and track the booking. Its current Android listing names Sarajevo and Banja Luka. Those two cities are the documented baseline, not proof of national coverage. For Mostar or a smaller destination, ask the accommodation which licensed dispatcher currently serves the address.

Is Uber banned or restricted?

We found no reliable basis for reducing Uber's absence to a simple national ban. The actionable legal issue is whether the company and vehicle actually meet local passenger-transport requirements.

That distinction became concrete in June 2026. Sarajevo Canton inspectors reported that one rent-a-car operator taking bookings through Vozzy was transporting passengers without the required conditions and vehicle documentation. The finding concerned the inspected operator, not a blanket judgment on every app user, but it is enough reason not to recommend Vozzy as an Uber replacement.

Use a recognized taxi association, check the vehicle markings and driver identification, and keep any app booking on the platform. A sleek interface does not by itself establish that the underlying transport is authorized.

Can I use Uber at Sarajevo Airport?

No. There is no Uber or Bolt airport pickup at SJJ.

Use the authorized Sarajevo Taxi vehicles at the airport stand. Sarajevo International Airport says those vehicles have official TA Taxi markings, visible Sarajevo Taxi branding, and driver identification. It also says card payment is now available in Sarajevo Taxi vehicles operating from the stand. The airport's current passenger notice advises passengers to check those identifiers before riding.

The same notice says all Sarajevo Taxi drivers now use mojTaxi for bookings across the city. That makes the app useful after you reach your hotel, while the official stand is the simpler arrival process. Card availability is a helpful improvement, but keep convertible marks, BAM, or ask about payment before assuming every taxi elsewhere takes a card.

What should I use instead of Uber?

1. mojTaxi: The clearest local app for Sarajevo and Banja Luka. Register before you need it and wait for an accepted car rather than treating a request as confirmed.
2. An authorized taxi association: Best for airport arrivals, smaller cities, and situations where the app has no car. Ask the hotel or restaurant to call a known dispatcher.
3. A prearranged transfer: Sensible for a late flight, cross-city trip, or regional destination where local app coverage is not documented.

Do not build a flight connection around one unconfirmed app request. Bosnia and Herzegovina's taxi market is local and fragmented, so a phone number or accommodation contact is a real part of the plan.
