DB Navigator is the essential nationwide starting point for German public transport. It searches long-distance and regional trains plus S-Bahn, U-Bahn, tram, and bus connections, shows live changes, and sells local tickets for participating transport associations. It does not sell every local product in every city. Open the Tickets and offers area for the selected location and use the official local operator app or ticket machine when the required fare is absent. Germany has many regional fare systems, so zones, short-trip rules, airport boundaries, activation, bicycle tickets, group tickets, and validity differ. In Berlin, for example, paper tickets generally need validation and a digital ticket must be activated before travel. Do not assume that buying or loading a ticket makes it active. As of August 2026, the Deutschland-Ticket costs EUR 63 per calendar month and is a personal, non-transferable subscription. It covers participating local transport and regional trains in second class, not normal ICE, IC, EC, or FlixTrain trips. DB requires cancellation by the 10th for the subscription to end that same month; later cancellation runs through the following month. Carry matching identification, and do not rely on a screenshot because some mobile tickets require the live ticket.
