Gett is the best first install because it has the broadest practical supply and is the Airports Authority's contracted taxi platform at Ben Gurion Airport. At arrivals, order through Gett or a self-service kiosk, receive the ride code and join the marked authorized taxi line. An app is not mandatory. Official taxis also operate from the rank around the clock.
Airport rides must use the meter, and the airport advises passengers to use authorized services only. Yango is a useful second search in its covered cities, but vehicle supply can be thinner and foreign-number verification may fail. Neither app guarantees an immediate car, especially late, during Shabbat, during alerts or outside major cities. Save your accommodation's number and ask it for a licensed local taxi when an app cannot match.
Confirm the vehicle and plate before boarding, make sure the meter is running where required and keep the receipt. Do not accept an unsolicited airport ride or rely on a fixed fare quoted by a stranger. Gett can also prebook an airport pickup, but the company's current instructions require enough lead time and a designated pickup point. Uber ended its Israel service in 2023 and has not returned.
The private-driver bill that passed a first Knesset reading in March 2026 is proposed legislation, not a service launch. Lyft and Bolt are not normal alternatives.
