Carry exact cash, reject any mismatched driver or plate, and arrange a known local driver for mountain regions and remote valleys.

Careem ended ride-hailing in Pakistan on 18 July 2025, three years after Uber stopped its app service in the country. Search results, airport blogs and saved icons can outlive an operating network. In 2026 the practical shortlist is inDrive, Yango and Bykea.12
Those three apps solve different problems. inDrive publishes the broadest city list, Yango gives a fixed upfront quote, and Bykea adds bikes and rickshaws in Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad. Don't install all three until the city and luggage make the choice clear.346
inDrive's current Pakistan page lists 13 cities and lets you propose a fare, then choose among driver offers. Compare the rating, completed rides, vehicle, pickup distance and price together. An unusually cheap offer from a distant or poorly documented driver isn't a saving.3
After acceptance, watch whether the car moves toward you. If the driver remains stationary and asks for more money before pickup, do not negotiate outside the booking. Cancel through the app, review any fee shown and request again from a safe place.
Yango advertises a fixed price from the beginning and says Pakistan rides accept cash, Visa and Mastercard. Its support page confirms cash and card in principle. A July 2026 Pakistan discussion, however, reported a missing card option and described JazzCash or Easypaisa transfers instead. Treat the method shown on your own request screen as the answer and carry enough rupees for the trip.459
A fixed app quote gives no permission for a roadside surcharge. An April 2026 Lahore report describes a driver presenting a much higher amount than the fare recorded in the passenger's app. Pay only the amount and method your own booking records. If the driver proposes a different price, person or vehicle before pickup, decline and rebook from a staffed place.10
Match the driver's face, name, vehicle and plate to the booking before opening the door. Recent Pakistan reports describe mismatched people and plates, requests for extra money and unwanted post-trip contact. These are failure reports rather than a description of every driver, but each is prevented or documented better when the booking remains active.78
Share the live route, sit where you are comfortable and avoid giving a room number or unnecessary itinerary details. If anything differs from the booking, step back into the airport, hotel or shop and cancel. Urgency doesn't justify surrendering the app record.
North of Islamabad, a pickup pin says nothing about ground clearance, luggage space, fuel, weather or whether the same vehicle will wait. For Hunza or Skardu, write down every stop, the waiting arrangement and the total before departure, then ask locally whether that day's road conditions suit the vehicle.
Airport app supply can also thin late at night. For an arrival you cannot afford to troubleshoot, use the official taxi desk or a prearranged hotel transfer. Confirm the meeting point, total price and destination before leaving the terminal.
Return to a staffed hotel, terminal or shop and ask for an official taxi or known driver. Agree the fare in Pakistani rupees before moving and record the plate. For an intercity or mountain trip, confirm the vehicle, road plan, waiting time and return in writing.
Start with inDrive for the broadest documented city list, but compare the driver, vehicle, rating and fare rather than taking the cheapest offer. Yango is the clearer upfront-price alternative where available.
Uber and Bolt are not the normal answer in Pakistan. Use inDrive, Yango or Bykea according to the city, noting that Bykea officially focuses on Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad.
