Intercity bus and train booking, curated for travelers visiting Sri Lanka.
Rail travelers need two separate official services. Sri Lanka Railways Seat Reservation is the only official platform for reserved seats on eligible trains. Reservations open up to 30 days before travel, require an account and passenger passport details, and popular scenic services can sell out almost immediately. Use only the railway.gov.lk domain because Sri Lanka Railways has warned about fraudulent booking sites. Pravesha is the current official app and website for ordinary tickets, including unreserved travel. An unreserved ticket does not guarantee a seat or even a comfortable amount of space, so arrive early and expect to stand on busy routes. Check the official timetable and current service notices before every rail day because landslides, repairs and weather can interrupt through journeys. Keep the e-ticket and passport available. Stay fully inside the carriage while it moves and secure valuables in crowds. For reservable long-distance buses, the new government busticket.gov.lk portal shows only the operators and routes currently loaded into its live search. Treat it as a useful option, not a complete national inventory. For routes it does not show, ask the NTC, bus station or accommodation directly. Do not rely on a third-party seller claiming access to sold-out rail inventory, and allow a large buffer before flights or fixed tours.
