Foreign mobile numbers and international Visa or Mastercard cards normally work with Uber, Bolt and FREENOW. They provide English and do not require Austrian ID or a local bank account. Taxi 40100 can take app payment or payment in the cab, but visitors should confirm the available method. Vienna Airport to the centre commonly costs about €35 to €55 by app or taxi before surge as of mid-2026. Rail is usually much cheaper. Lyft does not operate. Outside the provincial capitals and tourist centers, app supply can be sparse and a hotel-arranged local taxi is more reliable.
