Licensed taxi apps, city-specific transit tools and euro cash backups

21 apps6 essentialEuropeLast updated: August 2026

Uber and Bolt passenger rides do not currently operate in Bulgaria. In Sofia, use licensed taxi apps such as TaxiMe, Yellow Taxi 91119 or OK Taxi. Yellow is the official airport taxi partner. In Plovdiv, use Eko Taxi Plovdiv or Taxi One App. Bulgaria adopted the euro on 1 January 2026, and it has been the sole legal tender since 1 February. Cards are common in cities, but carry euro cash for smaller businesses, some taxis and less urban areas. Sofia public transport accepts contactless bank cards directly, while ticketing differs elsewhere and Varna and Burgas have separate apps. Drivers should buy an e-vignette only through BGTOLL or an official partner and verify the plate and registration country before payment. Save 112, download offline maps and Bulgarian translation, and confirm mountain weather, road closures and intercity schedules shortly before travel.

TaxiMe app icon

TaxiMeEssential

Dispatches selected licensed taxis in Sofia, with fare estimates, live tracking and cash or card payment.

Pro tip: You can order without creating a profile. Keep euro cash because card authorization or the assigned car's terminal can still fail.

Yellow Taxi 91119 app icon

Yellow Taxi 91119Essential

Dispatches Yellow taxis in Sofia and is the official taxi service at Sofia Airport.

Pro tip: At Sofia Airport, use the Yellow desk, signed rank or app. Ignore unsolicited drivers inside the terminal and verify the assigned plate.

OK Taxi app icon

OK Taxi

The official OK Supertrans app for licensed taxi orders across Sofia, with scheduling and payment preferences.

Pro tip: Use only the official app or exact company number. Imitation names and logos are a known Sofia taxi trap.

App StorePlay StoreWebsite↗
Eko Taxi Plovdiv app icon

Eko Taxi Plovdiv

The established EKO TAXI dispatch app for Plovdiv, with scheduled orders, live tracking and driver messages.

Pro tip: This is for Plovdiv, not Sofia or the whole country. Recent users report that foreign-number registration can be difficult, so test it early.

Taxi One App app icon

Taxi One App

A current Plovdiv taxi app with live driver tracking, advance booking and cash or card selection.

Pro tip: Use it only in Plovdiv. Recent local reports favor it over taking an unknown car from the railway-station rank.

Pro tip: Use Glovo outside Wolt's listed cities. Compare the final checkout total because fees and merchant prices can differ.

MPass app icon

TTickets Varna app icon

TTickets Varna

Varna's new official app for mobile tickets, trip planning, live arrivals and service alerts.

Pro tip: It launched in June 2026. Keep the official operator site and on-board or stop ticket machines as backups while the new system matures.

Transport Burgas app icon

Transport Burgas

The Burgas city app for real-time schedules, routes and the purchase of tickets or passes.
