An Eircode identifies an individual address and is often more reliable than a property name or rural street description. Paste it into the destination field, then confirm that the pin and final approach match the host's instructions. Mobile coverage can weaken on remote coast and mountain routes. Offline maps help with roads but do not preserve every live-transit or business feature.
Drivers must keep left, interpret speeds in kilometres per hour and expect narrow, winding local roads. A shortest-time route can send a rental car onto an unsuitable lane, so review the road classes and prefer a sensible motorway, national or regional road when the time difference is small. Do not follow a navigation instruction through a gate, private track or road that feels unsafe. The M50 around Dublin uses barrier-free tolling.
First ask the rental company whether it pays and rebills the toll. If the contract makes the driver responsible, use the official eFlow site before travel or by 8pm the following day and keep the receipt. Paying independently when the rental company already handles it can create a duplicate charge. Other toll roads may use booths or the vehicle's tag.
