Install Careem first for urban rides. The Jordan Tourism Board currently lists Careem in Amman, Irbid, Zarqa, Madaba and Salt, while Uber's own Jordan city page lists only Amman. Uber is still useful at Queen Alia airport because its current airport page offers requests for licensed taxis. Jeeny and Petra Ride are licensed alternatives, but treat them as backups rather than evidence of dependable nationwide supply. Petra Ride's current store listing names Karak, Irbid, Salt, Madaba, Zarqa and Mafraq, but it does not establish reliable pickup in Petra or Wadi Musa. The Land Transport Regulatory Commission warns passengers not to use unlicensed transport apps, and a 2026 investigation identifies Uber, Careem, Jeeny and Petra Ride as the operating licensed platforms. TaxiF is therefore intentionally excluded. Set up at least two apps before a late arrival. Recent traveler reports describe Visa rejection in Uber and Jordanian or Gulf-number friction in Jeeny, so keep cash and a Mastercard or second card. Check the driver, plate and vehicle before entering, share the trip and keep any fare or support discussion inside the licensed app. A map pin may need a recognizable landmark and a driver may call. App supply is concentrated in cities. For Petra, Wadi Rum, the Dead Sea, border areas or a time-critical airport journey, confirm a licensed hotel transfer, tour operator, JETT departure or rental car instead of assuming an app car will appear.
