There is no single booking system for travel between all Maldivian islands. Many local-island routes are sold directly by an operator and coordinated by the guesthouse through WhatsApp or Viber. Ask the accommodation to verify the company, departure jetty and timing before you pay. Public ferries are slower and cheaper, may not run every day, and do not generally call at private resort islands. Resort transfers are a separate system: every resort should arrange or authorize its own speedboat, domestic-flight connection or seaplane. Trans Maldivian Airways confirms that resort seaplane reservations are made through the resort, tour operator or travel agent, and seaplanes fly only between sunrise and sunset. Confirm the transfer price, baggage limit, arrival cutoff and whether an overnight near the airport is required. Schedules can move with weather and operational demand, and a final seaplane time may arrive close to travel. Avoid a tight self-connection between unrelated boats. Keep a buffer, travel insurance and enough medication or essentials in hand luggage.
