Public transportation apps, curated for travelers visiting Bahrain.
Bahrain Bus is the official specialist tool for public buses and the only transit app most visitors should consider. The Ministry of Transportation says it plans journeys, shows routes and live bus times, and can top up a GO Card. Live information can still fail or change, so confirm the route number, direction and stop display, and keep the mobile website or a saved schedule as backup. The current official fare page lists a 300-fils cash paper ticket, a 275-fils GO Card single trip, a 700-fils daily cap, a BHD 3 weekly pass and a BHD 12 pass valid for 28 days. A GO Card itself costs 500 fils and is sold at the main bus stations, including the airport according to the airport guide. Use the Ministry fare page rather than older tourism copy that still states a 275-fils cash fare. At Bahrain International Airport, buses leave from Zone 4A near Arrivals exit 4; current routes include A1, A2, 10 and 11, with A2 described by the airport as the fastest route to Manama. Buses are inexpensive on corridors they serve, but they are not a complete substitute for a car or taxi at every resort, industrial area, beach or late-night destination. Heat, long road crossings and uncovered waits can make a technically short connection impractical. Check the last useful return before leaving, carry water and sun protection, and leave extra time for a flight or ticketed event.
