Yango is the easiest first ride app for most visitors in Cochabamba, La Paz and Santa Cruz because it displays a quoted fare and supports cash and cards. A foreign card can still fail, so keep the cash option and check the selected method before requesting. inDrive has the broadest documented Bolivian city list, including Santa Cruz, Tarija, Oruro, Sucre, Cochabamba, La Paz and El Alto, but the passenger proposes a fare and drivers can counter. That negotiation and the common use of cash make it slightly less straightforward for a new arrival. Uber officially lists Cochabamba, El Alto, La Paz and Santa Cruz, but recent travelers report weak acceptance at some times, especially in La Paz. Bolivia's ATT currently lists Yango and inDrive as registered mainstream passenger platforms, but not Uber. For every app, wait indoors when possible, match the driver, plate and vehicle, share the trip, and reject any request to move the ride off the platform. At an airport or bus terminal, use the app's designated pickup point or a marked radio taxi booked by the hotel or an official desk. Do not enter an unmarked vehicle. Fake police and taxi accomplice scams are documented risks. A genuine official does not need to move a traveler in an ordinary taxi to an unknown station. If a ride app fails late at night, ask the accommodation to call a known radio taxi rather than hailing an anonymous car.
