Unlike in mainland China, ordinary Google services work in Hong Kong. Transit results are not equally reliable for every bus and minibus, so use Citymapper for a network journey and official operator or HKeMobility data for a consequential connection. Download the Hong Kong offline area before travel, but understand that Google offline maps do not provide normal public-transport, walking or cycling directions and cannot contain live closures. Save the accommodation name and address in English and Traditional Chinese, plus the nearest MTR exit.
Dense elevated walkways, malls, slopes and multiple station exits can make a visually short route confusing. Follow signs on the ground and use the correct entrance rather than walking toward a map pin through a closed or private route. Hong Kong traffic drives on the left. A car route does not establish that a visitor may legally drive, park or cross a boundary.
When visiting country parks, download the route, carry power, tell someone the plan and return time, and do not rely on one online map or continuous mobile coverage.
