What to know about Utilities in Pakistan

Install PAK NDMA Disaster Alert when traveling during the monsoon, visiting flood-prone cities or going into the northern mountains. It is the official National Disaster Management Authority app and provides hazard alerts, advisories, shelter information and provincial emergency contacts. NDMA's live pages show why it matters: the authority issued repeated 2026 alerts for monsoon rain, flash floods, glacial-lake outburst floods and northern areas. Treat an alert as a reason to stop and verify, not as a navigation suggestion. The app cannot guarantee delivery without power or data and does not prove a road is open. Also check the NDMA advisory page, Pakistan Meteorological Department, National Highways and Motorway Police, local administration, operator and accommodation. NHMP provides travel guidance on helpline 130 and currently tells northern travelers to check road and weather conditions before leaving. Save police 15, Rescue 1122, tourism helpline 1422, insurer, embassy or consulate and the relevant local contact. Coverage and response vary in remote areas, so ask the accommodation for the closest medical facility and evacuation plan. Keep offline copies of passport details, visa, insurance, medication list and emergency contacts. Carry water, essential medicine, cash, warm layers and charged power banks on long road journeys. Do not enter a floodway, cross moving water, wait beneath an unstable slope or continue because another vehicle did. Security alerts are separate from weather alerts. Check current official and home-government advice before visiting sensitive districts, public gatherings or border areas. Follow police and local-authority instructions even if the app is silent. No general utility app can replace an experienced local guide, a reliable vehicle and a conservative decision in mountain weather.

Pakistan's official multi-hazard alert app for warnings, advisories, shelters and provincial emergency contacts.

Pro tip: Enable notifications, but also check NDMA, NHMP and local contacts. An app alert never proves that a mountain road is open.
