Keep bags in front, secure the phone before doors open and avoid unfamiliar public transport late at night or with luggage. Current Australian advice specifically recommends accredited rideshare or a hotel car because robbery and other crimes have occurred on public transport. Use that safer option for airports, time-critical journeys and any trip where the route is unclear.
