Move and YEGO are the two ride apps a visitor should know. Current official and institutional visitor guidance names both, recent local discussions repeatedly recommend them, and neither Uber nor Bolt lists Rwanda as an operating market. Move is the easiest first choice for a car: its current Android listing says it operates around the clock across Kigali with tracked Volkswagen vehicles, upfront driver and vehicle details, and in-app payment. YEGO is the important comparison because it books regulated cabs and a more limited supply of motorcycle taxis within Kigali, shows a distance-based estimate, and does not use demand surge. YEGO's own listing says the final payment is cash or Mobile Money. A Rwandan phone number is the most dependable setup for account verification and driver calls, although some travelers report managing with a foreign number or customer-support help. Install and register before a time-critical airport journey, then test the pickup pin while online. Kigali International Airport has authorized transport, but recent travelers report much higher walk-up quotes than app estimates, so compare a live app quote or arrange a verified hotel transfer. Confirm the driver, vehicle, and plate before entering. For a moto, wear the supplied helmet, keep luggage small, and choose a car during heavy rain or when carrying bags. App supply becomes less predictable beyond Kigali. Tugende, GreenRide, Rapide, and other newer local services are genuine but do not yet add enough proven visitor value to the core shortlist. For national parks or an upcountry itinerary, arrange a reputable driver, operator, or intercity bus instead of expecting an on-demand pickup.
