Public transportation apps, curated for travelers visiting Tajikistan.
Rohnamo is now the clear Dushanbe transit recommendation. The independent app launched publicly in 2026 and is available on both iOS and Android. It stores Dushanbe bus, trolleybus and popular marshrutka routes offline, supports English, Tajik and Russian, and plans journeys with transfers and estimated travel time. The developer manually compiles route and stop data from official material and local feedback, so use it as a practical guide rather than a guaranteed live operations feed. Check the vehicle number and direction before boarding, and allow extra time for a connection. Rohnamo does not sell the fare. Dushanbe's official CityCard site says visitors can buy a transport card from drivers, inspectors, signed sellers or ExpressPay terminals. It also describes a one-time ticket from the driver and an ExpressPay Wallet QR option. A short-stay visitor does not need to activate CityCard's separate banking functions. Ask which fare medium applies before boarding, keep small somoni notes and retain the ticket. Marshrutkas can use different payment practices from municipal buses and trolleybuses. Rohnamo is for Dushanbe, not a national urban-transit planner, although its recent release also marks intercity taxi ranks. Public transport can be crowded, so keep the phone and wallet secured and carry bags in front. For the final trip of the day or an airport connection, verify the route locally and keep a licensed taxi fallback.
