PID Lítačka is the correct tool for Prague and the Central Bohemian PID network. It plans journeys, shows disruptions and sells tickets without requiring a long-term travel card. A data connection is required to buy and activate a mobile ticket. After activation, wait until the protection countdown has ended and the ticket clearly shows as valid before boarding or entering the metro paid area.
Keep the phone charged because the passenger must display the ticket during inspection. As of August 2026, Prague app fares are 36 CZK for 30 minutes, 46 CZK for 90 minutes, 140 CZK for 24 hours and 340 CZK for 72 hours. Standard airport lines 59 to metro A and 100 to metro B use the normal PID fare. Airport Express to the main railway station costs 200 CZK and does not accept ordinary PID tickets.
Paper and contactless onboard alternatives remain available if the app or data fails. Brno uses IDS JMK instead. On Brno city routes 1 to 99, one passenger can tap a physical contactless Visa or Mastercard at the orange validator. Tap again when leaving within 15 minutes; otherwise the system charges the normal 60-minute fare and applies the 90 CZK daily cap.
Use a separate card for each passenger. IDS JMK Poseidon can sell regional tickets, but its weak store ratings, registration and stored-credit flow make direct card tapping simpler for a short Brno stay. Elsewhere, ticket rules belong to the local or regional integrated system. IDOS is the strongest nationwide timetable search across trains, scheduled buses and city networks, and it has an English interface.
It sells some tickets, not every fare or seat. Timetable data can differ from live operations, so check the named operator before a tight transfer and follow that operator for changes and refunds.
