Weather information is the most useful utility layer for a Fiji trip because conditions can disrupt roads, boats and flights. Fiji Meteorological Service is the official first-level source for national forecasts, heavy-rain warnings, marine bulletins and tropical-cyclone information in the southwest Pacific. Its website should outrank a generic forecast notification when conditions become serious. Windy.com is a useful companion app for viewing wind, rain, radar, satellite imagery and multiple forecast models around a specific island. Tourism Fiji itself points travelers to Windy, but model graphics are not an official warning and can disagree. Make sure you install the red Windy.com app by Windyty, not the separately operated blue Windy.app product. Save the Fiji Met site, enable relevant alerts and ask the resort about its cyclone, tsunami and evacuation plan. Tropical cyclone season is usually November through April, but dangerous weather can occur outside that window. If an outer-island operator advises moving while seas are calm, do not wait for a prettier app forecast. Fiji's national emergency numbers are 911 for a general emergency, 910 for fire, 915 for the National Disaster Management Office and 917 for police. Store these numbers and your insurer's assistance line offline.
