What to know about Transit in Georgia

Georgia has no single national transit app. Tbilisi Transport is the official and dominant capital app, with more than 100,000 Android downloads and about 3,400 iOS ratings when checked in August 2026. It provides Tbilisi bus and metro planning, live bus locations, arrival times and QR payment. A visitor should install Tbilisi Transport plus Moovit, while Google Maps is a useful general fallback. Citymapper does not list a Georgian city as of August 2026, so use those services instead. Route planning needs no Georgian phone number, ID, bank account or sign-in. Tbilisi Transport, Rustavi Transport, Moovit and Google Maps support English. Tbilisi's fare was GEL 1 for 90 minutes of unlimited municipal travel when checked in August 2026. A Metromoney card cost GEL 2 at the same check, and supported bank cards can be tapped at validators. Tbilisi City Transport does not promise foreign-card acceptance in the app's QR wallet, so a physical Metromoney card is the safer visitor setup. Rustavi Transport is the corresponding live bus app for Rustavi. Batumi Auto provides Batumi bus positions, stops and routing, but it is a third-party app and does not sell tickets. Batumi raised its municipal bus and minibus fare to GEL 0.70 on January 30, 2026. Moovit covers Tbilisi and Batumi, while Google Maps data is less complete outside the largest cities. No app provides one pass across Tbilisi, Rustavi and Batumi. KarTranzit should be removed because no verifiable listing exists and Tbilisi City Transport directs passengers to Tbilisi Transport instead.
