Install 112 Latvija if you want Latvia's official emergency alerts, safety guidance, shelter map and a location-aware route to the emergency services. The app can start a free 112 call and can send a structured SMS, including for people with hearing or speech difficulties and travelers whose SIM was issued outside Latvia. When location permission and a data connection are available, dispatchers can receive an approximate caller location. That is helpful but not a substitute for saying the address, road, trail, beach access point or nearby landmark. The app works in Latvian and English. Call 112 for danger to life, health, safety, property or the environment; it routes fire, police, urgent medical and other operational help. A 112 dispatcher does not initiate an unsolicited call asking for bank details, a personal identity code or other sensitive financial information. For hikes, coast and winter travel, also check the official forecast and warnings before departure, tell someone the route and keep the phone charged. Parts of the Belarus border area have access restrictions and may require a special permit.
