The app advertises journey planning, city information, intercity ticket purchases and debit or credit card payment. Treat it as a planning and optional ticket tool, not a reliable live tracker. Recent 2026 users report inaccurate arrival predictions, routes that do not match actual service, expired ticket errors and failed bookings.
Check the operator's current website or stop information, arrive early and ask staff or call Mwasalat on 1551 when a departure matters. Official FAQs say tickets can also be obtained on the bus, at a booking office, in the app or online, depending on the service. Carry small rial notes and a physical bank card because an app ticket or foreign-card checkout can fail. Public transport is useful on selected urban corridors and for some airport trips, but it is not dense enough for a general sightseeing itinerary.
A destination inside Muscat can still be far from a stop in severe heat. Outside the city networks, do not assume that Google Maps or the Mwasalat app has complete schedules. Confirm the route, direction, operating day and final return before boarding, and use a taxi or licensed transfer when a missed bus would threaten a flight or fixed tour.
