It combines walking, metro and rail routing with business hours, place photos, reviews and Traditional Chinese addresses that can be shown to a driver. Save your accommodation and major destinations in both English and Chinese, then download the relevant map areas before leaving reliable data. Offline maps support driving, but public-transport, cycling and walking directions require a connection. Google Maps is much less dependable for live bus arrivals.
A July 2026 Taipei discussion and other recent traveler reports describe estimates that were wrong by more than 20 minutes, especially for trips that had not started. Plan the route in Google Maps, then confirm the stop, direction and live vehicle estimate in Bus+ or the relevant operator display. Even local bus feeds remain estimates, so allow margin for infrequent rural services and check the last return trip with an operator or visitor center. Google place pins can also represent a business entrance, parking access or mountain trail point imperfectly.
Compare the written address and street view, and do not follow an unsafe shortcut simply because it appears as a path. For hikes and remote coast or mountain routes, retain an official park map or offline specialist map and check weather alerts. Apple Maps is usable, but it does not replace the stronger local business inventory and review depth that make Google Maps the more useful single recommendation.
