English is Ghana's official language and is widely used in government, education, tourism and formal business, so most visitors do not need a translation app for routine travel. Google Translate is a useful optional bridge because it supports text translation for Twi and Ewe alongside English, but coverage and quality are not uniform across Ghanaian languages or dialects. Camera, speech and offline availability can also differ by language. Test the exact pair and feature while connected rather than assuming it will work after leaving Wi-Fi. Save the accommodation address, destination name, dietary restriction and a few key phrases as screenshots. Use short literal sentences, avoid slang and show the translation on screen. Ask a driver or host which language is appropriate instead of assuming Twi is used everywhere. Recent Ghanaian discussions show that automated Twi output can sound unnatural or convey the wrong meaning. For medical symptoms, allergies, consent, safety instructions, legal matters or a money dispute, ask a fluent person or professional interpreter to confirm the message.
