Ireland requires no local messaging app.

Accommodation, restaurants, tour operators and transport companies commonly provide an ordinary phone number, email address, booking-platform inbox or web form, and a foreign mobile number can make and receive Irish calls when the traveler's roaming plan permits. WhatsApp can still be useful if a verified business explicitly publishes it, but it is not an Irish arrival essential and travelers should not move a reservation conversation there merely because an unexpected message asks them to. Recent Irish reports describe convincing WhatsApp and email scams containing a guest's real name, hotel, dates and booking reference. Correct reservation details do not prove that the sender controls the property.

If a message creates urgency, threatens cancellation, asks to verify a card or sends a new payment link, stop and open the known booking app or type the property's official site yourself. Contact the independently verified number, not one supplied in the suspicious message. Keep essential arrival instructions and the accommodation number offline in case mobile data is weak. Irish numbers use the country code +353 from abroad, dropping the first zero of the domestic area or mobile code.

Northern Ireland uses the United Kingdom code +44, so confirm which jurisdiction the address is in before calling. For emergency help, use a voice call to 112 or 999 rather than messaging a business or relying on a social platform.
