Uber announced the Italian shutdown in June 2023, and the service ended on 15 July 2023. The closure was reported at the time and never reversed, so old travel posts and search snippets that still recommend Uber Eats in Italy are obsolete.312
Glovo, Just Eat and Deliveroo currently publish Italian ordering or coverage pages. None is automatically best nationwide: each address can reveal different restaurants, delivery limits and checkout totals.4678
Glovo's city map and the live storefronts from all three services make coverage an address-level question. Enter the hotel, apartment or office first. A city appearing on a list doesn't prove that a restaurant will cross a river, ring road or municipal boundary.467

Deliveroo's Italian FAQ says fees can include delivery, service and small-order components, with the applicable amounts shown before checkout. Treat every restaurant subtotal as incomplete until the final screen.8
Payment rules differ materially. Glovo lists Visa, Mastercard and American Express and says the methods available for the order appear in checkout. Just Eat offers online payment or payment on delivery when the restaurant supports it, with PayPal or sometimes cash suggested after a card rejection. Deliveroo Italy says it accepts card payments only. A listed card network still does not guarantee approval by every foreign issuer, so keep a second card available.68911
Italian addresses can place the searchable pin on a pedestrian lane, courtyard or building façade while the courier approaches from another road. Add the building number, intercom name, reception rule and a short landmark. Watch the map and move to the entrance before arrival.
Deliveroo's FAQ says a rider may leave after waiting up to 10 minutes when neither the rider nor support can reach the customer, and the order is still charged. Just Eat also warns that an unreachable customer can lose both the delivery and refund after its contact attempts. Keep the registered number reachable and do not make a rider search a locked property.810
Current traveler and local reports show a mixed support picture rather than a measurable winner. Save the order page, promised time, map, receipt and any chat before it disappears. Those records make a missing item, wrong entrance or cancellation easier to explain.121314
For a serious allergy, contact the restaurant directly and obtain a clear answer in a shared language. App filters and free-text notes cannot prove ingredient or cross-contamination control. If the restaurant cannot confirm, choose another meal instead of asking the courier to resolve it.8
Order directly from the restaurant, choose collection, ask reception for a trusted nearby option or walk to food. In a small town, direct ordering may cost less and reveal a delivery area the big apps do not list. Food delivery cannot replace 112 or a pharmacy plan for an urgent medical need.
