It is not a universal phone ticket. A visitor can buy a single journey from the driver with cash, a supported contactless bank card or a phone wallet. The current summer day fare checked in August 2026 is €2.50 and permits transfers for two hours. Night, special and Tallinja Direct services cost more.
Keep the paper ticket or use the same payment device for inspection. Each passenger needs valid proof of travel. For heavier use, compare the current physical visitor cards: the shareable 12-journey card, 4-day or 7-day Explore Flex offers and the 7-day Explore Adult card have different coverage, sharing and Airport Direct rules. Buy from an official office, machine or outlet and validate on every boarding.
Do not confuse free personalized-card travel for eligible local users with free tourist travel. Recent reports show that app positions can disappear, estimated times can be wrong, road works may move stops and full buses may pass without boarding. Use the app and Google Maps together, read temporary notices, signal the bus clearly and allow a large buffer for a ferry, tour or flight. The Airport Direct routes leave from the signed airport bus terminal, require no reservation and accept onboard cash or contactless payment.
The Tallinja On Demand feature is limited by area, day and time, so it is not a nationwide late-night replacement for a taxi.
