Poland is straightforward with cards and public transport, but the details matter.
The currency is the Polish zloty, not the euro. Contactless cards are widely accepted, while BLIK is generated inside a participating bank app and is not a standalone wallet most visitors can activate after landing. Carry a physical backup card and some zloty, choose PLN at terminals and ATMs, and decline home-currency conversion. Jakdojade is excellent for city routes, but mobile-ticket activation differs by city and operator.
A purchased ticket may still require an immediate QR scan or vehicle number. For intercity travel, KOLEO covers multiple Polish rail operators, but its card processor accepts only EEA-issued cards. Use PKP Intercity for its own trains when KOLEO rejects a foreign card, and e-podroznik for regional buses or mixed routes. Use licensed taxi apps or an official rank, especially at airports.
