How to order food delivery in Norway

foodora and Wolt extend well beyond Oslo

foodora's published directory names large markets such as Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger and Tromsø, then dozens of smaller cities and towns. Wolt also lists a broad national footprint, from Alta and Narvik to Kristiansand and Ålesund. This is real regional coverage, not an Oslo-only service.26

A city name only clears the first filter. foodora says its results depend on the delivery address and can change with distance, opening hours, traffic, weather and current demand. Set the accommodation before comparing restaurants, especially in a spread-out suburb or a town where the active radius is small.3

Bolt Food is live in Oslo and Bergen; Uber Eats is paused

Bolt's current city pages explicitly show Bolt Food in Oslo and Bergen. The general Norway page offers restaurant and grocery delivery, pickup and live tracking. This makes it a legitimate third comparison in those two markets, but ride coverage alone doesn't prove Food is live in another city.8910

Bolt advertises cash, card and Bolt balance on its Norwegian Food page. The actual checkout settles availability. foodora works differently: its current terms put payment on the platform and say nothing is paid to the rider. Plan a cash-only evening only after the chosen basket displays cash.83

Uber included Norway in a seven-market Eats expansion announced for 2026, then paused the Norwegian launch in July. A generic Uber Eats country shell can appear online without restaurants behind it. Wait for an official city catalog before treating Uber as a fourth delivery option.1

Vipps is local infrastructure, not a visitor requirement

Vipps requires BankID, a Norwegian identity number or eligible D-number, a Norwegian phone number, a registered Norwegian address, a Norwegian bank account and a Norwegian-issued card. That setup is unrealistic for a short stay. Use the card or wallet offered directly by the delivery platform instead.11

foodora supports bank or credit cards and other methods shown at checkout, while Wolt may place a small temporary test authorisation when a card is added. That hold differs from the order charge. Add the intended card before a time-sensitive meal and keep a second issuer available because we haven't tested every foreign card.37

A weighted grocery basket can reserve 20 percent extra

foodora's May 2026 terms allow a weight-based grocery item to land within 20 percent above or below the requested weight. The initial card reservation can include the requested amount plus the upper 20 percent. The final charge follows the actual delivered weight, so a larger pending amount alone doesn't indicate a duplicate charge.3

Norwegian bottle and can deposits also affect the total. foodora says shop prices display those deposits separately, while restaurant beverage prices include them. If a shop item is unavailable, an agreed replacement cannot cost more than the original and the lower price should apply. Read the final receipt before opening a payment dispute.3

Pickup and a precise entrance can rescue the order

foodora calculates delivery fees using factors that include distance, order volume and current offers, and it can charge the gap when a basket falls below the restaurant's minimum. Its Pick-Up option removes the delivery fee and minimum order value. For a restaurant around the corner, that can matter more than a percentage promotion.34

For delivery, add the apartment, floor, bell name and usable entrance, then stay reachable. If something is missing or delayed, open support from the active order and keep its number ready; foodora directs order questions through its Help Center and asks customers to include that number for faster handling.35
