Uber and Bolt operate through licensed Norwegian taxi drivers, while Taxifix connects established local taxi companies. Bolt publishes ride coverage in Ålesund, Arendal, Bergen, Drammen, Kristiansand, Lillestrøm, Moss, Oslo, Stavanger and Trondheim as of July 2026. Uber covers Oslo, Bergen, Trondheim, Stavanger, Tromsø, Ålesund, Bodø, Drammen and newer areas including Lofoten as of May 2026. Taxifix claims more than 250 Nordic cities, more than 600,000 Nordic users and access to local fleets including Oslo, Bergen and Tromsø as of July 2026. Taxifix is the best regional fallback. Bolt is usually cheaper than Uber, and both are generally cheaper than an unknown street taxi, but Norway remains expensive. Bolt's Oslo XL tariff lists a NOK 71.82 base, NOK 25.52 per kilometre, NOK 8.98 per minute and a NOK 251 minimum as of July 2026; other products and cities differ. All three offer English, accept foreign numbers and require no Norwegian ID or bank account. Uber and Bolt accept international Visa and Mastercard cards. Taxifix accepts app cards and can also dispatch a taxi paid in the car. At Oslo Gardermoen and other airports, use a fixed app quote or official company booking. Norway's deregulated market permits wide prices, so avoid entering an unknown cab without a displayed quote. Rural, fjord and island coverage remains sparse even where Uber announces a regional launch.
