Rwanda's most important travel services are official websites, not apps. Citizens of every country can obtain a visa on arrival, but visa waivers, fees, validity, and the correct class depend on nationality and purpose. The immigration service says the travel document generally needs at least six months of validity. An online visa application through IremboGov is also available, including without an Irembo account, and the official guidance supports online Visa or Mastercard payment. Do not install the Irembo resident-services app solely for an ordinary holiday. Check the Rwanda immigration site and Irembo support pages, save the confirmation offline, and contact the published immigration address if the visa class is unclear. The May 2026 Ebola measure is a separate entry rule: a foreign national who visited or transited through DRC in the preceding 30 days is denied entry. Recheck that notice because temporary health controls can change quickly. Carry a yellow-fever certificate when arriving from a listed risk country, declare a drone, and leave plastic carrier bags at home. Wildlife permits belong on the official Rwanda Development Board booking portal. The standard mountain-gorilla tracking permit for a foreign visitor is US$1,500 as of August 2026, while published resident or combined-park discounts have strict eligibility and evidence rules. Book well ahead, use passport details exactly, and verify any tour operator through the Rwanda Tour and Travel Association or another official listing before transferring money. A permit is not transport: confirm the report time, park reception, accommodation, and early-morning transfer separately. Save permits, receipts, insurance, emergency contacts, and all entry documents offline and in a second secure location.
