How it works here Uber operates in Ljubljana as a dispatch service for licensed taxis. The driver starts the physical taximeter, and the meter fare entered at the end is what the app charges. It is not a private-driver ride-hailing network and is not nationwide.
Uber's current Slovenia directory names Ljubljana and no other city. Its driver documentation requires taxi drivers to start the physical meter, then enter that amount in the Uber Driver app at the end. The entered amount becomes the passenger charge shown in the app, so compare it with the meter before completing the trip.45
Uber added Taxi Comfort in November 2025, with newer eligible vehicles and a separate suggested meter tariff. The important word is suggested: eligible drivers must register the relevant tariff in their taximeter, and the final passenger charge still follows the meter process.65
Taxi Metro offers app booking, live arrival tracking, a price guarantee and in-app payment, and also accepts direct phone bookings around the clock. That makes it the strongest local comparison when Uber has no nearby car or when you want a dispatcher for an airport or timed pickup.7
Wizi publishes separate current tariffs for Ljubljana and Maribor. In Ljubljana it distinguishes day and night rates and advertises airport transport from EUR 29, while Maribor has a different base, distance and waiting structure. Compare the relevant city tariff rather than carrying one estimate across Slovenia.89
Bolt's current Ljubljana page displays scooters and no Bolt Rides car category. Generic brand or directory presence is not enough. Only count a car service when the live app or the city's product page actually offers one.10
Ljubljana Tourism states that operators set different tariffs and advises asking for an estimated or fixed fare before the ride. Within the City of Ljubljana, its current page lists maximum permitted charges of EUR 2 to start, EUR 1.50 per kilometre and EUR 20 per waiting hour. Those city limits are not a fixed airport fare, and the airport journey varies by provider and traffic.1
Uber's Slovenia driver guidance says the metered fare entered at the end is what the app charges. Compare the app charge with the meter, and do not assume that a cash option is available unless the booking flow shows it. For another operator, Ljubljana Tourism advises confirming card acceptance when booking. Taxi Metro supports app payment, while Wizi's city pages don't promise one universal payment method.5178
The official taxi area is in front of Terminal B. The airport's current permit list runs from 16 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 and gives each holder's fare elements. It also publishes indicative prices to selected destinations, with possible variation of up to 10 percent. Every rank taxi must display its airport permit and accept card or cash. The airport provides the rank but does not operate the rides.2
The airport tells passengers to refuse solicitation. A separately prebooked car may wait outside the taxi area, but it should match the registration or other identifier sent through the app or operator. Do not follow an unverified person offering a fixed ride inside arrivals.2
The public bus stop is opposite Terminal A, and the airport also lists shuttle services. These are useful fallbacks when taxi supply or pricing is poor. Check the live timetable after landing because the best connection depends on destination and arrival time.3
For any app ride, match the plate, driver and vehicle before getting in and keep the request in the platform. For a phone booking, record the company, agreed price basis and pickup entrance. This matters at stations, pedestrian centres and airports where several cars can be waiting close together.572
For a mountain property, early flight or cross-border trip, arrange the ride directly with a local operator and confirm it again. Ljubljana app availability should not be projected onto the rest of Slovenia, and a future booking still needs a real operator confirmation.41
If Uber, Taxi Metro or Wizi has no car, call a licensed local fleet or ask the accommodation to book one and confirm the fare basis. At Ljubljana Airport, use the signed taxi area, listed shuttle or public bus rather than an unsolicited offer.123
