English is common in many tourism businesses but not guaranteed with every driver, small restaurant, clinic, police desk or rural operator. Google Translate is a useful optional aid for menus, signs, short typed exchanges and camera translation. Download Spanish and any relevant regional language before departure and test offline tools. Place names can have different official forms, so save the original local spelling and map pin. Machine translation is not reliable enough for a severe allergy, diagnosis, medication, police report, legal condition, rental contract or emergency instruction. Carry professionally translated medical details when a misunderstanding could cause harm and request a human interpreter for serious matters. Ask permission before photographing people or documents. A translation of a menu item does not prove ingredient or cross-contamination safety, so confirm directly with staff. Learn a few polite Spanish phrases, but respect the language used by the local service and do not treat regional languages as tourist curiosities. The app is a communication aid, not a substitute for understanding a ticket, road sign, beach warning or official order.
