Sweden's public transport is easy once you choose by region. SL covers Stockholm, Västtrafik covers Göteborg and Västra Götaland, Skånetrafiken covers Malmö and Skåne, and UL covers Uppsala. Resrobot connects the map, but it isn't a universal ticket wallet.
Install only the operator apps for the regions on your itinerary. Use Resrobot to plan a journey that crosses regional boundaries, then buy from the named operator. A mobile ticket, contactless bank-card tap and interregional rail ticket are different products. Resrobot is the national journey-planning service from Samtrafiken. It combines virtually all scheduled public transport across roughly 50,000 stops, which makes it useful for finding a route through several operators. Its former ticket-purchase function was phased out during 2025, so follow the named operator to buy the actual fare.1
Regional boundaries matter even when trains and buses connect smoothly. An SL ticket does not become a Västtrafik or Skånetrafiken ticket because the journey remains inside one app screen.
