Thailand still has a crowded delivery market, but you usually need one account, not four. The useful choice is the app that already knows your phone, card and hotel entrance, not the one with the loudest discount banner.
Open GrabFood inside the Grab account you already use for rides. Try LINE MAN only when you want deeper local restaurant choice and its account and payment flow works without friction. Ignore old Foodpanda recommendations, keep Thai baht for a failed card, and meet the courier at the entrance your hotel actually permits.

GrabFood sits inside the same Grab app you may already use for rides after landing. The account, saved places and familiar English interface remove three setup steps at once. Grab's current Thai help center also has specific guidance on GrabFood payment and foreign-payment fees. That does not guarantee approval, but it is clearer visitor support than an undocumented assumption.27
Set the hotel, condominium or villa entrance before browsing. Grab may cover Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya or Phuket broadly while a distant resort falls outside a restaurant's radius. The menu that appears after the pin is the coverage answer that matters.
LINE MAN remains a major active Thai platform. A June 2026 government programme named it alongside GrabFood, ShopeeFood and Robinhood, with more than 88,000 participating restaurants across the four services. That confirms a live market, not that all four deserve space on your phone.1
The iPhone listing names English and Thai, yet restaurant descriptions, address conventions and courier conversations can stay Thai-first. Use LINE MAN when it reveals a restaurant Grab lacks, but stop if signup, location or payment starts consuming the evening.36
Foodpanda stopped taking Thai orders at 22:00 on 23 May 2025 and ceased consumer service at 00:01 on 24 May. Its own closure notice is unambiguous. Don't treat a store page, old coupon post or familiar pink logo as evidence of a working Thai service in 2026.4
Do not replace one dead recommendation with four speculative installs. Grab and LINE MAN give you a practical first and second search. ShopeeFood and Robinhood are active local options, but the 2026 government list does not prove that their signup, language or foreign payment experience is better.1
Thai hotels and condominiums may keep delivery riders in the lobby, at a security gate or outside the property. Ask the front desk once, then pin that spot. On an island or at a hillside villa, add a landmark and check that the route is reachable by motorcycle.2
Watch the order after pickup and keep the phone audible. A courier may call in Thai when the map and entrance disagree. If you cannot communicate, send a short translated message with the property name and wait visibly at the agreed point.
Compare the final amount after menu pricing, distance, small-order charges and discounts. Recent Thai discussions describe users moving between Grab and LINE MAN as pricing and service change. Those accounts are useful as failure modes, not as a permanent ranking.89
If the food is missing or unusable, photograph it with the receipt and packaging before disposing of anything. Recent reports describe compensation disputes. Preserve the order screen and support chat, and avoid placing a replacement until you know whether the original payment will be reversed.10
For a serious allergy, delivery is the weaker communication channel. Contact the restaurant directly or order in person, where you can show a Thai allergy card and confirm the dish with staff. A translated app note cannot guarantee the kitchen saw or understood it.
Ask the hotel to call a nearby restaurant, use the restaurant's own ordering channel, or eat at a night market or local shop in person. Confirm the price and payment method first. Outside urban delivery zones, the front desk may know the only restaurant willing to send a driver to the property.
Set your exact address before comparing menus. If GrabFood returns a useful selection, stop there; open LINE MAN only when the restaurant you want is missing.
An existing Grab account is the best first test, but neither a foreign number nor a foreign card is guaranteed. Grab Thailand's current help center explicitly covers foreign-payment fees. LINE MAN logs in through a LINE ID and remains more Thai-focused. Complete setup before the meal, make sure the registered number can receive messages and keep cash available.
Pin the real hotel, villa or building entrance, add a landmark and ask reception where riders wait. Keep the phone available because couriers frequently call for directions.
Coverage is useful in Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Pattaya, Phuket and other tourism centers, then narrows on islands and around remote resorts. Always test the exact address.
Ask the property or restaurant to order, use Thai baht where the checkout permits cash or eat at a nearby market. foodpanda closed its Thai consumer service in 2025.
