Public transportation apps, curated for travelers visiting Thailand.
Thailand has no national urban-transit app, and Bangkok does not have one universal fare card. BTS Skytrain, the MRT systems, buses, Airport Rail Link, SRT Red Lines and river services use different operators, fares and information channels. ViaBus is the most useful optional app for Bangkok buses and also covers selected services in Chiang Mai, Phuket and several other cities, but not every vehicle shares a live position and route data can lag. Signal the bus at the stop, compare the number and destination, and do not plan a tight airport or rail connection around an estimated bus arrival. Google Maps bus times are especially unreliable on some Bangkok routes. BTS Rabbit is mainly a BTS product and does not become a universal Bangkok card. From June 1, 2026, the official MRTA and BEM upgrade supports EMV contactless travel on specified MRT systems, but this does not make a foreign bank card valid across every BTS train, bus, ferry or rail line. Use the same supported card to enter and exit, then check the charge later because authorizations may be grouped. THE SKYTRAINs and Bangkok MRT are official operator apps, but each covers only part of the network and current reviews report route-planning or language limitations. Most short-stay visitors can use operator maps, station signs and single tickets instead. Keep Thai baht, confirm the exact operator, leave time for long interchange walks and check the last train. Outside Bangkok, verify the named local operator rather than assuming ViaBus coverage.
An optional live bus map and route planner for Bangkok and selected participating Thai transit systems.
