Yandex Go is the default taxi app in Uzbekistan, but it should not be your only plan. Cash, SMS verification and the airport meeting point can fail independently; Fasten, MyTaxi and Uklon give you useful alternatives.
Activate Yandex Go before arrival if possible and carry Uzbek soʻm. At Tashkent Airport, follow the current pickup directions and board only the car with the matching registration; access to the permitted curb does not make every solicited car legitimate. Yandex Go's Uzbekistan page shows the fare and estimated route time before booking and explicitly supports cash paid to the driver. Uzbekistan's competition authority found Yandex Go held 86.3% of the aggregator market in its 2022 analysis. That figure is historical, but it explains why Yandex remains the sensible first install and shouldn't be treated as one of six equal recommendations.71
Official tax data names Yandex Go, Uklon, MyTaxi and other aggregators and records 319.1 million platform-issued ride receipts worth UZS 5.9 trillion during 2024. The government also requires taxi licensing and roof identification. Use the assigned app record and matching taxi rather than bargaining with an unverified car outside a station.23
Fasten expanded in July 2026 from Tashkent into 18 more cities, including Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva, Urgench, Nukus, Fergana, Andijan, Qarshi and Termez. Its current listing supports cash and card and shows an upfront price. This materially changes its value from capital-only backup to a regional comparison, although live driver density can still lag Yandex.511
MyTaxi describes itself as a major Tashkent aggregator operating since 2015. Uklon's Uzbekistan terms support cash, bank card, Apple Pay and Google Pay, with a live recommended cost that can change with demand or route changes. These are credible Tashkent alternatives, but neither source proves uniform supply across the country.910
Maxim also documents active Tashkent service with city, intercity and scheduled rides. WB Taxi opened to all users in March 2026 and reached Samarkand and Bukhara by July. These are useful extra options, but you must still check the current fare and driver availability.126
Uzbekistan Airports announced that Yandex Go and several authorized taxi operators may collect passengers on the first access line directly outside the Tashkent arrivals terminal. This supersedes older advice that every app car must wait beyond the car barrier. Follow the live app pin and airport signage because the permitted operator and lane still matter.4
Recent arrival reports describe persistent unsolicited taxi offers, including people claiming they can arrange Yandex. Order on your own phone, check the registration and driver's identity and walk only to the pickup shown in the app. If the car cannot enter the assigned lane, agree on a visible public point through the in-app contact rather than following a stranger.13
Activate the account while your original number can receive an SMS. Travelers report both successful foreign-number use and failed one-time codes, so keep a local SIM option and a second app. The Yandex agreement in force from 26 May 2026 identifies a local Uzbekistan entity, but it does not promise that every foreign number or card will pass verification.814
Carry soʻm even after adding a card. Yandex officially presents cash, Uklon accepts cash and non-cash methods, and MyTaxi has local-card integrations plus evidence of Mastercard campaigns. Foreign Visa or Mastercard acceptance can vary with the app and issuing bank. Confirm the method before pickup and reject an off-app price change.7109
Use rail or a properly arranged transfer for Tashkent to Samarkand, Bukhara, Khiva and other long routes. A cheap app quote does not assess rest, road conditions, luggage or the driver's willingness to cross a regional boundary. For an airport-to-hotel or station transfer, an app is excellent; for hours on the road, verify the operator and vehicle separately.3
Standard cars are often compact sedans. Four adults plus large bags may not fit, especially outside Tashkent. Choose a larger category when the app offers one or book two cars, then message the driver about luggage before pickup. Never overload a vehicle or accept an extra unrecorded passenger to make the fare work.15
If Yandex, Fasten, MyTaxi and Uklon fail, use an authorized airport taxi, ask the accommodation to call a licensed local dispatcher or arrange a transfer. Confirm the registration, total, cash currency and return before moving. At rail stations and airports, ignore unsolicited middlemen and keep the booking in your own name.43
