Utilities Apps in Ukraine

Повітряна тривога, commonly rendered as Air Alert in English, is the one safety app every person who remains in Ukraine should install. It requires no registration and sends official civil-defence alerts for a selected oblast, district, community or city. With the required permissions it can sound during silent mode, but a setting, operating-system restriction, update, dead battery or network outage can still prevent a notification. Select the exact locality before arrival, enable critical notifications, test the volume and keep the phone charged. The app reports the alert and all-clear; it does not tell you that a particular building is safe. Identify a verified shelter separately, go immediately when the siren or alert begins, and remain until the official all-clear. In Kyiv, download the official shelter map inside Kyiv Digital for offline use. Do not rely on one phone or an unofficial Telegram channel. Ukraine's official 112 Ukraine app is not recommended to ordinary foreign visitors because first authorization currently requires Ukrainian BankID and a Ukrainian tax identifier, despite its English interface and Wi-Fi calling feature. Call 112 directly from a mobile instead, or 101 for fire and unexploded weapons, 102 for police and 103 for an ambulance. Mines and unexploded ordnance remain a nationwide concern and are especially severe in conflict and post-conflict areas. Never touch or approach a suspicious object, leave by the same route and report it to 101. Keep offline emergency contacts, water, medication, a torch and a charged power bank because extended power, heating, water, mobile and banking disruption is possible.
