Google Maps is the best general install for finding businesses, walking and road navigation, but it should not be treated as the live authority for every bus, ferry or island road. Recent Athens users report that scheduled bus trips shown by general map apps may include services that were changed or never operated. Use Google Maps to plan the route, then check OASA's official daily schedule and real-time data for an Athens bus. Download the required mainland and island areas before departure, save the accommodation and port, and keep the Greek spelling of important destinations. Island lanes can be narrow, steep, unlit or unsuitable for the vehicle even when the map offers them. Reject an implausible shortcut, obey signs and confirm access with the accommodation. A ferry line on the map is not a sailing confirmation. Use the ferry operator or a dedicated ferry service for the actual departure, port and check-in requirement. Trail coverage also varies.
