No utility app replaces official alerts and a written emergency plan. Keep cell-broadcast emergency alerts enabled. Greece's 112 service sends location-based instructions for dangers such as wildfire, severe rain, flood, snow and earthquake, and compatible phones receive those alerts automatically. Follow the instruction immediately rather than waiting for a travel app or social post. Call 112 free from any available mobile network, even without a SIM, or send an SMS when speaking is not possible. The official mAiGreece app is legitimate and offers tourism information, directories and a location-sharing 112 button, but it is not essential. Its own terms describe the AI assistant as informational and beta, so it must not replace a ministry, emergency operator, ferry company or medical professional. Save the accommodation, insurer, embassy, bank and transport contacts offline. In summer, check official wildfire and weather information before driving or hiking, avoid closed roads and never enter an evacuation area for photographs. Carry water, sun protection and a charged power bank. Island and mountain mobile coverage can fail. Share remote plans and use navigation appropriate to the activity. Confirm that travel insurance covers medical care, evacuation, ferries, rental vehicles and planned activities. Keep identity and booking documents accessible without a network connection, but protect them behind device security. For immediate danger use 112, not a hotel chat, review platform or social network.
