Ride Hailing Apps in North Macedonia

North Macedonia has no Uber, Bolt or other large international car-hailing network. Skopje relies on licensed-taxi apps, with Wizi the clearest visitor option. Its published 2026 tariff starts at MKD 60, charges MKD 35 per kilometre and offers a 10 percent discount on eligible rides priced up to MKD 650 as of July 2026. That makes Wizi usually cheaper than taking the same participating taxi without the app discount. BeeRide and Global Taxi Skopje are useful backups when Wizi has no nearby car. All three are concentrated in Skopje, and app availability in Bitola, Ohrid and Tetovo is not dependable enough to promise. Wizi offers an English interface and accepts foreign numbers, with no Macedonian ID or local bank account required. BeeRide's store listing and user reports show that some foreign country codes may be missing and some foreign cards may fail, so cash in Macedonian denars is the safe fallback. Global Taxi is more conventional dispatch and is also cash-oriented. Skopje International Airport has an official fixed-price taxi desk, while app pickup can be less predictable. Compare a Wizi quote with the airport tariff before leaving the terminal. Drivers may call, so add the hotel name or a clear landmark in the booking note. Outside Skopje, ask the accommodation to call a registered local taxi rather than depending on an app.
