Singapore's rain can be extremely local and sudden, so a current radar or warning is more actionable than a generic all-day weather icon. Enable only the alerts and location access you need, and move indoors during lightning or intense rain rather than trying to complete an exposed walk. ScamShield is the second useful local tool, especially for a traveler using a new SIM or receiving unfamiliar booking and delivery messages. It can check suspicious phone numbers, links, copied text and screenshots, including content received through WhatsApp and Telegram, and can filter known scam calls or SMS when correctly enabled. It does not prove a message is safe, and submitting a ScamShield report is not the same as making a police report. Verify payments through a known official channel, contact the bank immediately if money or credentials were exposed, and use the 24-hour ScamShield helpline at 1799 for guidance. Call 999 for immediate police help and 995 for fire or a life-threatening medical emergency. Keep those numbers, the hotel's address and an emergency contact offline. Neither utility is essential for a short stopover, and both official websites remain usable if storage or permissions are a concern. Avoid similarly named third-party apps by checking the publisher before installation.
