Taiwan's official Central Weather Administration should be the primary source for typhoon, heavy-rain, heat, marine and earthquake information. Taiwan Weather has English, detailed local forecasts, radar and push alerts. Enable location and warning notifications, then compare any mountain, ferry or east-coast plan with the latest official warning and the operator's service notice. Weather can differ sharply across the island and at elevation, so a generic phone forecast is not enough for exposed routes. Readiness TW e-APP is the National Fire Agency's multilingual disaster-preparedness app. It combines alerts and emergency information, and recent versions add offline maps and a disaster-prevention card. Taiwan's 2025 national public-safety guide specifically recommends it for locating nearby shelters. It is a useful optional safety installation, especially for a longer stay or anyone traveling beyond major cities, but it does not replace instructions from police, firefighters, accommodation staff or transport operators. Download any desired offline layers before an emergency and periodically refresh them. For immediate help, call police on 110 or fire and ambulance on 119. If a mobile phone cannot connect through its normal network, call 112 and choose the appropriate service. Give the address or a nearby landmark in Traditional Chinese when possible. Keep alerts audible during typhoon, earthquake or severe-weather periods and never enter a closed trail or road because a map still shows it.
